The pencil skirt is such a great piece to have in your wardrobe because it suits literally any body type and exudes femininity. Its really all in how you style it!
Personally, I carry my weight around my hips so I will always wear longer floaty layers in an A line shape that just skims the body over a pencil skirt. This creates a silhouette that has curves but is still slim through the upper body and legs as the pencil skirt tapers in.
For those that want to show off their waist, a shirt or top tucked into a mid or high waisted pencil skirt is a fabulous look that will never go out of style.
A versatile wardrobe item the pencil skirt, can look polished and professional when worn back with a silk shirt, blazer and heels, stylish weekend casual with a pair of white sneakers, denim jacket and oversized tote bag or classy and sophisticated when styled with a statement top, clutch and heels.
There is a large range of pencil skirt options from tailored high waisted styles perfect for the office to comfortable and stretchy tube skirts that can be dressed up or down. As a rule of a thumb a pencil skirt that falls just above or on the knee is the the most flattering length. If you have great pins though don't be afraid to show them off in a shorter version.

There are lots of different options out there - no matter your shape or size. Here are a few of my favourites.
Metalicus is an Australian brand that makes stylish clothes that are comfortable to wear at an affordable price point. They also have a great loyalty program, that rewards you with vouchers when you spend money in store or on-line. This is a basic stretchy tube skirt that has been in their basics (now heritage range) for as long as I can remember. They usually bring out seasonal colour variations. This would be perfect layered under casual longer line tops for comfy weekend wear.

Cue is one of my favourite brands for office/corporate wear. Stylish and on-trend the Australian made brand has been at the forefront of the local fashion scene for decades.
Cue have lots of different pencil skirt options. I like this slightly higher waisted version with an asymmetrical hem which adds interest to the skirt. It won't need more than a simple top and heels to look classy and professional.
