Styling your outfit for spring racing
As the warmer weather approaches so does spring racing season. Whether you are heading to Melbourne to attend the ultimate event on the Australian racing calendar, going to a local Melbourne Cup event or attending Adelaide race events such as Polo in the Park its time to start thinking about your spring racing outfit.
The acceptable trends to wear to the races each season can be quite confusing and the amount of choice available to us can be overwhelming.
Traditionally for women spring racing fashion is about being lady-like, feminine and sophisticated. If you take this approach to putting together your outfit you can’t go wrong. Remember less is more and classic styles are best. Accessories are also important and will make or break an outfit. Always wear headwear to the races and remember to choose your headwear after you have selected your outfit and then style the rest of your look accordingly.
If being on trend is important to you, you should go for...
Pastels – beautiful washed out hues in lilacs, soft pinks and baby blues. This retro inspired trend will look best in 1950’s silhouettes.

Print on Print – for the more adventurous race goer, clashing prints is a fun way to express your creativity and stand out from the crowd. For those new to clashing prints try starting with a colour theme such as navy and pulling together different prints that include this colour, or you could just throw in an accessory such as a clutch with a clashing print.

Monochrome – black and white can be an easier look to pull together and will always look sophisticated and chic.
